US 231 Open to Traffic

Governor Mitch Daniels cut the ribbon on the US 231 corridor and opened the roadway to traffic in 2011.   United Consulting is proud to be a part of the Major Moves project which was developed to encourage economic growth in southwest Indiana.  United’s portion of the corridor was a new terrain roadway bordering Lincoln State Park which included a bridge spanning a railroad and new diamond interchange at US 231 and SR 162.

Project Open Market

Mayor Greg Ballard accepted the award for the 2011 ASCE Indiana Civil Engineering Project of the Year. Although many were involved in this project, United played a vital role in the success of the Construction Engineering phase. According to a News Release from the Mayor’s Office, “The city initiative was developed to spur investment and create economic opportunity by removing the old I-65/I-70 ramps on the near eastside and building a new interchange along Washington Street for smoother traffic flow and to improve pedestrian access”.

2011 Best Places to Work

United Consulting was named Best Place To Work In Indiana for the fourth consecutive year in a row by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce! United was one of thirty-three companies who made the list of small to medium sized companies (between 14 to 249 employees) and the only civil engineering company in this category.

The purpose of the program is to recognize Indiana companies who create an environment in which employees feel valued and to encourage companies to structure their workplace to benefit its employees.

United Receives IPTQ Award

The Indiana Partnership for Transportation Quality (IPTQ) recently awarded eight Quality Awards during Road School on March 8, 2011. United Consulting received a quality design award for the SR 62 & Booneville Project/ Phase III with the INDOT Vincennes District as the owner and E & B Paving, Inc. as the Contractor for this project. Road Team 3 Leader, Jeromy Richardson, accepted the award on United’s behalf.

IPTQ is a partnership of 14 Indiana agencies, industry associations and academia that is dedicated to continuous quality improvement in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of Indiana’s highways. The Quality Awards Program was created to recognize Indiana projects which exemplify outstanding quality, teamwork, innovation, safety and customer focus.
