Indy Named Top 52 Places to Visit

Indianapolis was recently named to the New York Times’ list of 52 Places to Go in 2014.  The article features the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and its access and linkage to neighborhoods, cultural districts, and entertainment sites throughout the city. When this project was designed and built, it included the construction of new, shared paths and sidewalks that incorporated art into public spaces while emphasizing green and context sensitive design.  Every intersection required careful consideration between vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic. United’s role in this project included the design of detailed signing and marking plans, grading plans that included over 13,000 individual spot elevations and drainage design that included heavy usage of storm water planters to help reduce runoff into the City’s combined sewer system. In 2012, the United Consulting/Rundell Ernstberger Associates team was awarded the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce’s highest honor of the Monumental Award for the Indianapolis Cultural Trail.
